What is the significance and relevance of this story to last days prophecy?

The point is the US military had its last hurrah with Desert Storm. For the past eight years the Clinton administration has destroyed what was once the greatest military force for backing up freedom and liberty on the planet.

We now have a just-in-time military logistics system similar to that used by Toys R Us. That means to save money inventories of all necessary military spares have been reduced to just a two week supply.

That is just fine if we planned to go to war against Toys R Us. However, if the US got involved with even another lop sided action against some third world country we would start running out of spare parts after just two weeks. No one is really sure how long a military action could be sustained against a major power. That possibility is not even in the military strategy anymore.

The US has also decided to turn the Navy into a "brown water fleet." Basically that means our ships will now be designed to operate and drop off Special Forces close to shore. All planning and preparedness for a deep-water engagement have been scrapped.

The trickle of Air Force contracts has forced a consolidation of the aerospace industry to the point that there are now only two aircraft assembly lines left in the US: three if you count Boeing's commercial airliner facility.

The manufacturing lead time is so long on these hi-tech systems that you would be watching the Olympics in 2004 from Greece before a new jet fighter could be rolled out of a new assembly plant.

I don't call that military readiness! My feeling is that we need some low cost easy to manufacture systems to back up the few high-end weapon systems still in the military arsenal. In a real war against capable adversaries planes and tanks would have a very short life. We will not be able to crank out replacements every ten minutes like we did in WW II.

Some say there is nothing to worry about. Everywhere we turn people are saying peace, peace. Wouldn't that be great if that were true? Don't count on it. Global peace is not going to happen until the Messiah comes back.
