What is the significance and relevance of this story to last days prophecy?

A treaty in the Middle East is very significant. But what you should be watching for is the man that brings together a seven-year treaty that allows the Jews to construct a new temple on the Temple Mount.

In the book of Daniel, chapter 9, we read the following:

"Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate." Daniel 9:27

Many say that this prophecy was fulfilled by Antiochus IV in 175-163 B.C. but this is not correct.

Jesus spoke of the fulfillment of this prophecy in future tense, meaning it had not yet come to pass:

"Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), Matthew 24:15

Apostle Paul also made reference to the Antichrist sitting in the Temple pretending to be God:

"Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. II Thessalonians 2:3-4

There have been many people that have tried to finalize a treaty between Israel and the surrounding Arab nations. All have failed.

Who is the Antichrist?

You will know the identity of the Antichrist soon. This Satan filled man will be the one that gets the Arabs and Jews to sign a seven year treaty.

The treaty will allow Israel to build a new Temple right along side the Arab Doom of the Rock.

I can see it now. The world will embrace him as a hero. He will win a Nobel Peace prize, give tons of TV interviews, he will be on the front page of every news paper, and people will just love him.

What will the Antichrist do when he rises to power?

Like Hitler and every other antichrist throughout history the day will come after only 42 months that Antichrist will show his true colors. He will seek world domination and declare himself a god. As God's chief enemy he will start persecuting both Jews and Christians.

Will God send prophets to warn His people to turn away from the Antichrist?

Yes, God is going to send Moses and Elijah back to witness for Jesus in the streets of Jerusalem.

"And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. Revelation 11:3-4

When will the Antichrist come?

The status of peace talks in the Middle East has dominated the world news for some time. So we know it won't be too long before a treaty is signed. But don't forget that God calling the shots. Nothing is going to happen until God decides it is time. That is why the past two treaty dates have come and gone.

For now God is holding off the rise of the Antichrist to allow for the Gospel of Jesus to reach that last person before the Rapture.

"And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. II Thessalonians 2:6-10

For those of you who want to know more about the reign of the Antichrist you simply need to read the book of Revelation. The first few chapters give a brief history of the church. After that you will read about the seven year reign of the Antichrist, Millennial reign of Christ, and finally the new heaven, new earth, and New Jerusalem.

If you haven't made up your mind about Jesus Christ I encourage you to pray and think very hard about it. Do not delay. This is the most important decision you will ever make.
