Violence Rocks Israel
By John Roberts, October 6, 2000 What is the significance and relevance of this story to last days prophecy? I am in no hurry for a Mid East peace treaty because I know what is going to happen as soon as that document is signed. However, the major stumbling block to a final treaty is the final status of Jerusalem. It is the home to three major world religions. The Temple Mount is the 3rd holiest site to the Arab faith and the holiest site to Jews and most Christians. Christians believe, as Jews do, that the Messiah will set up His kingdom on the Temple Mount when He returns. Biblical prophecy tells us that the Temple Mount will be split between Jews and gentiles and the Jews will be allowed to build a Temple. Additionally, the Antichrist is the one who will come along and make a treaty with many nations, including Israel. As deprived as Mr. Clinton is I would not call him the Antichrist. It does look more and more like Jerusalem will become a "dual capital" city under international jurisdiction with the Pope playing a special role. This process has already started by enlarging the boundaries of the city of Jerusalem to the point that both sides will actually end up with a part of the city as large as the original size under Israeli control. That way Israelis and Palestinians will not feel like they are getting half of anything. I expect the violence in Israel to continue until the Lord returns. Many people believe that a Mid East treaty will lead to years of peace followed by only a few years of tribulation before the Lord returns. This view of prophecy is completely false. What Revelation tells us is that a third of the world is going to die shortly after a seven-year treaty is signed by the Antichrist. The conquest and war of the Antichrist, an ecological disaster in the seas, spoiled drinking water, fires on earth, disease, and pestilence, will cause this catastrophe. The Bible calls all this the "Wrath of God, and the "Day of the Lord." God is going to punish those that fight against Him and follow the Antichrist. There is a way out of all this and that door is called Jesus Christ.
